Much of interest at Undercover Policing Inquiry examining the Special Demonstration Squad (SDS).

The afternoon, with @spycops HN3 'Jason Bishop', touched on SDS rivalry with new NPOIU (see image).

Mentions of 'Rod Richardson', the first we know to be deployed to us in Nottingham & his follow-up Mark 'Stone'/Kennedy.

Events reported on that we supported included DSEi Arms Fair 2001 & 2003, MayDay protests, Earth First (EF!) Gatherings in N.Wales & N.Yorkshire, GM Crop decontaminations & more.

Also 2005 G8 campaign at Gleneagles in Scotland & Dissent network at Stirling, where we built on the EF! camp skills later deployed at Climate Camps (& later XR).

Urgent call out from Pigs in the Wood

!! Please share! Very urgent homes needed for these poor pigs living in horrendous conditions. The pigs only have until Friday before they will be destroyed. They have been seized by environmental health as some irresponsible person had not castrated his pet pigs. We are aligning with Retreat Rescue in Kent to save these innocent lives.

Please only respond if you have a CPH number and agree to checks.

If you can offer a forever home (or even a foster home) to any of the pigs please email pigsinthewood@yahoo.com. These pigs are a mixture of Berkshire, Sandy black spots and mixed breed (as some escaped).

Keith Mann – Rest in Power

We were saddened to hear that Keith Mann passed away on Christmas morning, after a short illness. Keith led a remarkable life that from start to finish was dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in our society, from the animal kingdom to our fellow humans.

We are honoured to able to help cater the celebration of his life.

We’re thrilled to see the very first episode of 'At The 1 in 12 Club', a new podcast series that dives deep into the history, spirit and everyday realities of one of Bradford’s most enduring radical spaces.

Like our Nottingham #RainbowCentre aka #SumacCentre, #1in12 is grounded in anarchist principles of co-operation, mutual aid and self-management. Pre-dating us by 3 years, in 1981, it quickly grew into a hub of DIY culture and grassroots organising.

Vacancy for a part-time Allotment Sessional Worker

Emmanuel House is looking for someone to work at it's allotment on Thursdays, the role would involve some support work with people who have experienced homelessness or have support needs, as well as gardening and cooking (vegetarian meals).

Emmanuel House has had an allotment on the historic St Ann’s site for approx 15 years. As well as vegetable beds, soft fruit and fruit trees, there is a cabin and wildlife pond.

Today marks the anniversary of one of the most daring animal rescues in recent British history.

In the early hours of 20 Dec '22, a small group entered MBR Acres, where thousands of dogs are bred each year for animal testing. 20 beagle puppies were carried out into the cold air. Eighteen made it out for good. Two, Love and Libby, were seized by police and returned to MBR Acres, their brief taste of freedom taken from them despite widespread public outcry.

The next peaceful Greyhound Action in Nottingham (GAIN) demo will be outside Nottingham dog track on Mon 15th Dec at 5.15pm as part of Animal Aid's action fortnight - please come and join us if you can!

One dog died every 3 days in 2024 at the hands of the racing industry. Between 2017 - 2024 over 4,000 greyhounds died in this 'regulated' industry and more than 35,000 injuries were recorded.
